Comprehensive Standard 3.5.2

At least 25 percent of the credit hours required for the degree are earned through instruction offered by the institution awarding the degree. In the case of undergraduate degree programs offered through joint, cooperative, or consortia arrangements, the student earns 25 percent of the credits required for the degree through instruction offered by the participating institutions. (See Commission policy “The Transfer or Transcripting of Academic Credit.”)

Rationale for Judgment of Compliance

The Athens State University, General University Requirements requires that the last 33 hours of academic credit be taken at Athens State University before a student can be awarded a bachelor’s degree. A minimum of 124 semester hours is required to earn a bachelor’s degree, of which 33 hours is over 25%. This documentation can be found in The Athens State University Catalog.

Athens State University monitors the amount of credit earned at the institution with respect to the total number of credits required for the degree. The Athens State University Academic Certification of Eligibility for Graduation requires 33 hours of the last 39 semester hours to be checked and verified by the VP for Enrollment and Student Support Services.
